The MEXT Scholarship allows nominees from the Graduate School of Science to the University of Tokyo. The final number nominated to MEXT will be determined after the application period closes. Eligibility Requirements for the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship 2024
To be considered for the Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship, applicants must:
- Nationality: Be from a country with diplomatic relations with Japan (applicants with Japanese nationality are ineligible).
- Age: Born on or after April 2, 1989.
- Academic and Career Background: Graduates of universities or teacher training schools, having worked as teachers at primary/secondary educational institutions or teacher training schools.
- Japanese Language Ability: Willing to learn Japanese and interested in deepening understanding of Japan.
- Health: Submit a health certificate in the prescribed format signed by a physician.
- Visa Requirement: Obtain a “Student” visa at the Japanese diplomatic mission in the applicant’s country of nationality.
Benefits of Japanese Government MEXT Scholarship 2024
Allowance: After arrival in Japan, 143,000 yen per month.
Supplemental regional allowance: 2,000 or 3,000 yen per month added to the scholarship amount.
