AFS Global STEM Accelerators Program Details:

The AFS Global STEM Accelerators program entails 12-week digital programs conducted from home, featuring engaging content on global competence skills, social impact, and sustainability-focused workshops. The program content is collaboratively developed by AFS and the University of Pennsylvania, with a focus on climate change and the energy transition. Participants will culminate their journey with student-led social impact projects and presentations, offering potential solutions to real-world challenges.

Scholars who successfully complete the program will be awarded the Advanced Certificate on Global Competence for Social Impact, jointly conferred by AFS and the University of Pennsylvania Center for Social Impact Strategy.

Eligibility Requirements for 2024 AFS Global STEM Accelerators Program:

To qualify for the AFS Global STEM Accelerators Program, applicants must:

Be young women aged between 15 and 17.5 years old at the program start date (Birth dates from October 1, 2006, through September 1, 2009).

Be able to fully participate in a classroom setting and a program conducted entirely in English.

Demonstrate interest in sustainability, STEM, and engaging with diverse cultures.

Candidates from diverse backgrounds, particularly underrepresented populations and those with high financial need, are strongly encouraged to apply.

Benefits of 2024 AFS Global STEM Accelerators Program:

Scholarship winners will engage in a 12-week all-virtual program focusing on emerging and critical STEM skills and fields, global competence education, and social impact (co-developed with the University of Pennsylvania). Participants will enhance their STEM knowledge and skills through interactive, hands-on curriculum while developing crucial global competencies such as problem-solving, analytical skills, intercultural understanding, and the ability to bridge cultures.
